RUAG sponsors AMZ in Formula Student

AMZ is a team of students from ETH Zurich that competes every year in Formula Student with its all-electric race car against other universities across Europe. RUAG sponsors AMZ and supports them in their project.

The Akademischer Motorsportverein Zürich (AMZ) was founded by students of ETH Zurich. Since 2006, AMZ has built race cars for the annual "Formula Student" competitions in Europe. What started with internal combustion engines has evolved into all-electric race cars, starting in 2010. Since 2017, AMZ has also participated in the Formula Student Driverless Race, developing a driverless vehicle based on the previous season's race car. The goal of the annual development of a new race car is to improve aerodynamics and successfully dominate the upcoming racing season. The latest major milestone was setting the new world record for the "fastest 0-100 km/h acceleration of an electric car". It was the first time an electric vehicle had broken the one second mark.

Ready for the next racing season

Consisting of about 80 mechanical and electrical engineering students, the team has already begun developing the 2024 race car. The design was defined by the end of the year. The team will start building the vehicle in the first quarter of 2024. We at RUAG are happy to support the young team and are looking forward to the coming months.
